Love that shirt. It looks a lot like a sketch that incorporates the photo the gen-mac_users-schmoozers BOF took of Lois in Salt Lake City.

Brian Lenius's talk will primarily deal with towns in the Austrian province of Galicia. If you go to the Gesher Galicia website and follow the link to the "Cadastral Map and Landowner Records Project" you'll see the inventory of towns in the project. http://www.GesherGalicia.org

Many of these will be on the agenda. He'll also have a table at the Sunday Market Square Fair where these maps will be on display from 2P - 4:30P.

Is there some where that we can get a list of the towns/shtetls that will be covered in this talk?
I am specifically interested in small towns in Posen (used to be the German Empire--now in Poland)
--i.e. Samter, Posen, Gnesen, Wreschen, Tischtiegel, Schoenlanke, Wreschen. Any chance that any of these towns will be discussed?
Thank you.

I would love to be able to participate in your July conference and promote my book "Nana Lena's Kitchen: Recipes for Life". Will you be selling books there? Nana Lena's Kitchen tells the story of five generations of Southern Jewish women, stories I heard growing up in my Nana's kitchen as we prepared food together.

I've spoken at Jewish book festivals and Hadassah meetings and can even teach how to make rugelach. Or I could focus on how I put this book together combining oral narrative, my memories and web-based research.

I'd be happy to feature your conference on my book blog at www.nanalenaskitchen.blogspot.com and on my latest blog on ways to survive the current depression at www.SurvivingUnderemployment.com. Please let me know how we can work together.

Great post, Brooke. Don't forget about using #jewishgenealogy on Twitter. That is a valuable one to use as well and really targets the correct audience. Tracing the Tribe also uses that hashtag when blogging and twittering from the annual IAJGS conferences. It reaches a much different audience of people who don't even know about the conference. So add #jewishgenealogy to your tweets.

Sounds like a great idea to invite the two authors. Never thought about how Hollywood helped genealogical searches, but it sounds like it will open new avenues. Regarding Odessa, it's a rich Jewish community worthy of a lecture.
Shalom, Yitzchak Kerem

Might you consider inviting two local authors of international reputation to speak at the conference? 1. Neal Gabler, "An Empire of Their Own: How the Jews Invented Hollywood"; and 2. Robert Rosenstone, among his many titles are "The King of Odessa" and "The Man Who Swam Into History" both involving extensive genealogical research. Few know more about the Jewish experience vis a vis the film industry than these two scholars.
